Food Recovery Program

Blue Strike is working with California jurisdictions to support SB 1383 compliance and design programs to build capacity around Organics Management and Edible Food Recovery programs. The objectives are to work with local jurisdictions, businesses, food rescue networks and other stakeholders to identify and quantify existing efforts already underway within a given region and determine next steps moving forward to support participation, collection and compliance.

The program includes: (1) capacity planning assessments, (2) program design, implementation, and monitoring, (3) coordination with food rescue organizations and networks, (4) outreach and education with Tier 1/Tier 2 business generators, and (5) development of innovative tools and resources to support donation, storage and distribution of recovered edible food. Beyond edible food recovery, Blue Strike supports organics collection outreach, lid flipping contamination prevention, zero waste program implementation, compliance education, and innovative procurement approaches for agricultural, governmental and residential end-product demand generation.
