CLIMATE ACTION PLAN
Town of Dalton, MA
In our work with the Town of Dalton, MA, we developed a comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CAP) that aligns with the Massachusetts Clean Energy and Climate Plan (CECP) for 2025 and 2030. The CAP focuses on transitioning the town toward a low-carbon future by identifying opportunities to decarbonize municipal operations and inform the public about incentives and rebates that support decarbonization in residential and commercial sectors. Our team collaborated closely with the Green Dalton Committee to develop practical strategies and ensure the feasibility of implementation, integrating resident input through a community-wide survey and the Dalton Climate Fair. Key elements of the plan included decarbonizing municipal buildings and transportation, expanding EV charging infrastructure, and identifying cost-effective measures to enhance renewable energy adoption, with a strong focus on equitable access to sustainability benefits across the community. Deliverables included a detailed roadmap outlining timelines, cost estimates, funding recommendations, and metrics for tracking progress, along with a resident’s guide and digital outreach materials for web and social media to foster ongoing engagement. This collaborative approach positions Dalton to achieve its sustainability goals and strengthen resilience against future climate challenges.
